As I am sitting here on the night before we go back to school, I am thankful for the wonderful Christmas break! I hope summer comes quick so we can get back to the fun times!!! I was just thinking of the things we’d been blessed with in 2008.
1. In January 2008 Grant started a new job that he absolutely loves!
2. February 1, 2008 @ 9:58 am we were given the most precious gift…Macie Grace Miller!!!
3. I was able to stay home with Macie for two months before I had to go back to work
4. Summer 2008-had lots of fun times by the pool and spent time with our family and friends
5. Fall 2008-I transferred schools and started teaching 2nd grade so that I could be closer to Macie’s daycare, we finally closed on our house, My sister started A&M (class of 2012) WHOOP!!!
5. As Macie continued to grow we celebrated her first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
As I’m sad to see 2008 leave and Macie grow up, I am looking forward to see what 2009 has in store for us!

Last Thursday Grant and I stayed home from work and took Macie to see Santa and to get the second part of her flu shot. We planned on leaving our house around 10, and being at Northpark mall by 11…before the Santa line got long. As we walked down in Santa’s direction, a whole stream of daycare age kids were passing us going the other direction. The look on Grant’s face was priceless!!! We had decided to go that day because we thought it wouldn’t be crowded. Luckly, those kids had been at “Storytime with Santa”.
At 10 months now, Grant and I thought Macie would be terrified of Santa. She cries and looks for the closest person she knows when she sees a stranger. She won’t let just anyone hold her. I guess she knows Santa is not just ANYONE! She absolutely loved him. He talked to her and asked if she’d been a good girl and minded her mommy and daddy. She listened to every word!!! She wasn’t too interested in having her picture taken though. I think she would have rather just listened to him talk! After seeing Santa, we stood in a line that seemed a mile long to actually get our picture. It was worth every minute though! Even going as an adult, I got that same feeling I used to as a child waiting in line to see Santa!

Sorry its been so long since I’ve updated.
Saturday Grant and I had so much fun…we did all of our Christmas for Macie! I never knew it would be so much fun! The whole time we talked about what she’d like and how she would react when she opened it. Before entering the store, we said that we didn’t want to buy so much it would be overwhelming. But, as we were pushing our buggy to the car it was so full things were falling out! So much for that idea. I’ve always loved Christmas, but this year I am especially excited about it…I feel like a little kid again. I can’t wait to see her face on Christmas morning!
As of right now, we have a baby gate up in the hallway, latches on every cabinet, and pillows around sharp corners! Keeping up with her is a challenge. Just yesterday I walked down the hall and heard water splashing…and there was Macie with her hand in the toilet smiling. Note to self: always close the lid to the toilet!!! I may have to buy a latch for that too!

In the last post I said that Macie was getting into everything…now she REALLY is. Today Grant and I went around the house picking up MORE stuff, covering MORE outlets, and hiding MORE cords. I keeping thinking we’ve got everything taken care of, but then she finds something that we’ve overlooked. In the mix of all this, Macie decided she was going to pull up on the end table. I don’t know how, but she hit her head and up popped a bruise (right in the middle of her forehead). I’m so glad we took our 9 month/family pictures yesterday. Although, her school pictures are Tuesday. We’ll see if it goes away before then. If not, I guess it will be something to remember.

This is my first blog, hopefully I’ll stick with this…I always like to read other people’s so I thought I do one of my own! My goal is to try to keep everyone updated on the latest and greatest Macie Grace news! A couple of months ago I couldn’t wait for Macie to roll over, sit up, crawl, etc. Well, I finally got what I wished for!!! She’s into everything she can get her hands on…dishwasher, toilets, dog food, pretty much anything except for the toys we’ve actually spent money on. Why is that always the case? She is doing new things everyday! It never ceases to amaze me how excited I am to pick her up in the afternoon from daycare. Before Macie, I use to be the last car out of the parking lot at school, but now I’m counting down the minutes until I get to see her again. It is so neat to see her face light up when I walk in the door to pick her up!!! I hate leaving her during the day, but I know it is good for her to be around other children. She’s loving playing with all the boys…that’s not a good sign!!! More to come…….
